Buenos Aires: Sides of the City

Tuesday I arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each time I travel, my perspective and opinions change. Usually cities like this intimidate me, with their high accident rates, coupled with never ending cigarette smoke and traffic smog. I have not yet fallen in love with Buenos Aires, as I still prefer smaller populations, but I was able to see different versions of the city through my camera lens.

There is the romanticized city, which focuses on European influence.

The corporate influence that is undeniably American.

And lastly, there is the new vs old, which can be seen in the buildings, artwork, and the people walking across the street.

  1. I'm having weird computer issues - if this things posts 3 times, you can shoot me when you get back.

I am so glad you are sharing these. Argentineans are very proud of Buenos Aires and in a few days you may see why. I had heard high praise ("better than Paris!) so i was disappointed. But I still found it a beautiful city. Buenos Aires is all I know of Argentina, though. I can't wait until you send pictures of the Pampas, the Andes, Chile...

  2. These are beautiful! I love how you contrasted the different parts of the city. I've never been to Argentina but I'm also a smaller city person, so I probably won't ever live there, but I'd love to visit!
